ok so i went to the edb talk

yes i did. and didnt feel gd abt it. ite didnt really feel satisfied about the nature of edb jobs la. its more like the "developing" of the singapore economy, i.e. PR shit and stuff, getting overseas dorks to invest in Singapore. ok i know its important but its too micro a thing for me. oh and need i mention that i find socializing and networking too tiresome a process? but then the requirements for the scholarship itself kindof fits the things i want to do in Uni like double major in science and economics. My econs sucks right now so prolly not.
I think that once u enter the edb thing theres really little chance to focus on technical and professional stuff. true though they train u as a leader but being the leader has its now drawbacks. firstly if u're a leader up there u'll prolly lack much of the technical expertise many down there will have and seriously i wont feel gd about waving hands around telling people to get things done and stuff. irks. and its disgusting. but then if the salary is gd, ill be happy. The most irritating part is that it seriously limits choice of career and stuff. Its gd if i can get transfer to other stats boards or other random company but chances are ill have to work too hard to get it, even though the job will be a highpaying one. the downside.
i'd rather do random research and live a moderate life in the middle-class (if it doesn't take too much effort, maybe upper) without the fucking PR stuff.
oh and ct2 results next week. something is going to hit the fan.

orz the stupid common test

oh i just feel like doing the same thing i did for econs last time, unfortunately, this time there will be no vulgarities. but anyway CT2s just ended. Non-standard questions are gd but they always gimmie a sense of insecurity. Like physics and geog, the papers were definitely very well set but being unfamiliar with the questions is quite scary. But i kindof enjoyed doing the papers, oddly enough, prolly its like a break from the mindless memorizing and stuff from the holidays.

maths is a gd one too but then maths is always boring so =_=...

zmog gp is gone case...

DECADENCE

I AGREE. decadence, as jon gan would put it. but netsurfing is always like that haiz. So theres less than 1 week left of the holidays and the health minister axed our hopes of 1 extra wk of holiday. i dont even know wat i learnt... dont even know whether will pass econs or not.

the importance of being religious

church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

is the epitome of religion. being touched by his noodly appendage is probably the holiest thing that can happen to you.

ok ignoring the nonsensical nature of this, on to the importance of being religious.

so i always had this belief that religion was important in the ancient world when the world was essentially wild wild west. so there is a need for law and order to defend the majority's (who, may i remind, does not contribute to progress significantly) rights, or in essence insecurities. (i.e. i dont want to be killed and such gets translated into this common law for everyone- thou shalt not kill) so there is a need for a figure to be established and He ought to be omnipresent and omnipotent such that there will be automatic self-regulation. we, on the other hand, ought to have commited a sin such that He will not appear to favour us all the time because evil is present in the world. However, He must be benevolent such that priests can guarantee rewards for being good. such are the fundamental building blocks of religion. Other strange practices are made up for political control and indentity.

so we have legislation now so they are not necessary right? NO. as jon gan said, government intervention is not divine intervention

i still believe there is a place for religion in the modern world since law and enforcement cannot achieve the range and power of religion in controlling the masses. moral and religious codes, ie taboos are more powerful than any kind of lock (quote issac asimov's prelude to foundation) and will be able to accomplish things law cannot. although i think that the world would be better if a monoreligion takes over, i would pity their ignorance but alls for the best. since the smart ones who need to be secular in order to contribute to humanity (and also the minority) will break out of it anyway. probably. i hope.

now all thats left is to pray that it will happen.
